Used for checking endocrine testicular function, ovarian tumours in mares (diagnosis via Granulosa Cell Tumour Profile (testosterone, AMH, progesterone) recommended), differentiation between cryptorchid and castrated male animals.

Remark

  • Stallion: Testosterone should be assessed for cryptorchidism as part of an HCG Stimulation Test (see Endocrinology/Function Tests)
  • Small mammals: To diagnose testosterone-producing tissue, an HCG Stimulation Test (see Endocrinology/Function Tests) should be performed with testosterone determined twice at an interval of one hour. Single determinations are only diagnostically meaningful if positive.
