Trilostane Therapy Control (2x cortisol)

LABOKLIN Service ID: 1325

Material

Serum 2 x 0.5 ml

Parameter

2x cortisol (2 x pre-pill determination or pre- and post-pill determination)

Method

Chemiluminescence assay (CLIA)

Duration

Reporting of results on the day the sample is received (Mon–Sat)

Remark

  • Pre-pill cortisol can be measured once or twice: If measured twice (2x pre-pill), cortisol is measured at an interval of one hour. Trilostane should only be administered after the second sample has been collected.
  • If the time of taking the pills has to be changed because of the blood sampling, it needs to be done at least one day in advance.
  • Separate cortisol reference values apply for monitoring trilostan therapy (pre-pill: 14–50 ng/ml).
  • Not suitable for patients in poor general condition and for animals from which blood cannot be sampled stress-free. In these cases, the ACTH stimulation test is still recommended.
