The Warburg micro syndrome 1 (WARBM1) in Huskies is caused by a recessive SINE insertion in the RAB3GAP1 gene. Symptoms include developmental defects and polyneuropathy. Affected dogs exhibit polyneuropathy with ocular abnormalities and neuronal vacuolation. Additionally, a progressive severe ataxia develops, which leads to euthanasia of the puppies at an age between 8 to 16 month.
