LABOKLIN Service ID: 1003
| Material | Serum or heparin plasma 0.5 ml |
| Method | Capillary electrophoresis |
| Duration | Reporting of results on the day the sample is received (Mon–Fri) |
| Remark | - Includes the separation of the protein fractions albumin, α-, β-, γ-globulins and the albumin-globulin ratio. The protein fractions are also represented in form of a graph.
- Acute inflammation leads to an increase in the α- and/or β-globulin fraction. Polyclonal hypergammaglobulinaemia is caused by infectious, immune-mediated or neoplastic diseases. Especially in case of feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), the test is used to support the clinical suspicion. Monoclonal gammopathies are found both in plasmacytoma and in the progression of certain infectious diseases, including leishmaniasis, anaplasmosis and ehrlichiosis.
- Albumin, α- and β-globulin fractions are lowered in case of severe liver diseases.
- When using plasma, an additional small peak in the beta-globulin fraction is possible due to coagulation factors.
