  • It is currently possible to measure PTH-rP concentrations only in canine samples.
  • PTHrP is a parathormone-like protein.
  • The hormone is formed physiologically during growth and during pregnancy.
  • This parameter should not be used to diagnose pregnancy, as the cut-off value depends on several factors and varies between individuals.
  • Pathologically, it is secreted by different tumours, e.g. by some kinds of lymphoma, lymphosarcoma and anal sac carcinoma.
