Remark

  • The temperature-stable isoenzyme of AP is induced by endogenous steroid hormones or by cortisone therapy and can be used to diagnose overtreatment with steroids.
  • Only useful in combination with the determination of the “total AP” if it is elevated. With the sum of all isoenzymes of AP (“total AP”) and the heat-stable AP, the residual activity of AP can be determined in percentage.
