  • First antibodies occur 2-3 weeks post infection. If the results of the serological examination are negative but animals are suspected of being infected, the test should be repeated, possibly several times, at intervals of 3 to 4 weeks.

  • In Germany, the authorities must be notified of a positive Coggins test. A positive ELISA must be confirmed by a Coggins test (test number 3130).
