AGP (α-1 acid glycoprotein)

LABOKLIN Service ID: 1098

  • AGP is an acute-phase protein in cats and shows a non-specific increase during systemic inflammatory responses.
  • Studies have shown that significantly elevated AGP concentrations – especially if accompanied by typical clinical signs – indicate the presence of feline infectious peritonitis (FIP).
  • When FIP has been confirmed, determining the AGP concentration can be helpful for monitoring the course of treatment, as improvements in the progression of the disease during treatment are reflected in a decrease in the AGP concentration.
