| Remark | - In acute pancreatitis, enzyme activity is increased over a period of 3–5 days. As it is produced in the liver, pancreas and small intestine, the enzyme is not very specific for diagnosis. Changes in enzyme activity can also occur due to diseases of other organs as well as in renal dysfunction.
- In order to confirm the diagnosis of pancreatitis, determination of pancreatic lipase immunoreactivity (PLI) is recommended.
