Antinuclear Antibodies (ANA)

This test is used for the serological detection of autoimmune diseases (e.g. lupus erythematodes). If the test yields a negative result, a biopsy should be taken and examined, as the serological testing can be negative especially in case of local changes. Low positive titres may also occur in many general diseases.
