  • Injection of TRH (10 µg/kg i.v.)
  • Second sample 45 min post injection = stimulation value

A relative increase of TSH > 57% after TRH-stimulation argues against the presence of primary hypothyroidism.
In addition, rT3 can provide further assistance in differentiating hypothyroidism from non-thyroidal causes of a reduced T4 concentration.
