In animal serum, IgA is found in lower concentrations than the other immunoglobulins. It is considered the most important immunoglobulin in the outer conjunctival secretions and in the urine, and is present in secretory form.
In dogs, IgA is a diagnostic marker of steroidresponsive meningitis-arteritis.
