Remark

  • The presence of thyroglobulin autoantibodies indicate autoimmune thyroiditis and are associated with an increased risk of developing hypothyroidism.
  • They can provide information on reproductive fitness in predisposed breeds. Breed predisposition: Doberman, Golden Retriever, Beagle, Cocker Spaniel, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Irish Setter, Akita, Boxer, and others.
  • The detection of TgAb is not equivalent to clinically manifest hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism can also occur without TgAb being present.
