Partial Thromboplastin Time (PTT)

- PTT is used to monitor coagulation factors of the intrinsic system and can be used as a global test to identify coagulopathies.
- An isolated prolongation of PTT without changes in the PT may indicate a factor deficiency (factor VIII, IX, XI and XII). Hemophilia A or B can be identified by determining the concentration of single factors (VIII, IX).
