• Reticulocytes are juvenile erythrocytes – the concentration is needed to differentiate between regenerative and non regenerative anaemias.
• For reliable results the sample should not be older than 48 hours.
• In dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs, the hemoglobin concentration of reticulocytes (CHr) is measured additionally.
