• As parasite eggs or protozoa are only shed intermittently, the test needs to be repeated if there is any suspicion (it is best to send in 3 consecutive samples).
• Horse: From the eggs, differentiation of large and small strongyles is not possible; a larval culture would be required here, which can be requested separately (see Larval Culture, test number 439).
• Camelids, small ruminants: Subsequent to detection of strongylid eggs in the flotation, endoparasites including Haemonchus contortus differentiation can be requested via service number 534.
