• PCR detection should be preferred over microscopic detection as the sensitivity of the microscopic detection is low (around 30%).
• Species differentiation is included in the detection of haemotropic mycoplasma (dog: Mycoplasma haemocanis, Candidatus Mycoplasma haematoparvum).
