• The viral load determined by quantitative canine distemper virus (CDV) PCR provides an indication as to whether the result is attributable to a field strain infection or to the detection of vaccine virus.
• For further differentiation, a PCR assay for the detection of canine distemper virus vaccine strains is available. This assay detects the virus strains contained in the following vaccines: Nobivac, Eurican, Versican, Virbagen Canis and Rivac. Please note that the virus strain contained in the Vanguard vaccine is not detected.
