Partial Thromboplastin Time (PTT)

- PTT is used to monitor the intrinsic system and can be used as global test to identify coagulopathies.
- Isolated prolongation of PTT without changes prothrombin time (exocrine system) is suspicious for factor deficiency (as factor VIII, IX, XI and XII). Hemophilia A and B can be identified by estimation of the concentration of single factors (VIII and IX).
