Remark
A Baermann test is indicated in cases of chronic cough and dyspnoea because of possible lungworm larvae infections.
The lungworm
Angiostrongylus vasorum
cannot only be detected by Baermann test, but also by PCR in blood or BAL (see Infectious Diseases / Parasites).
