  • Positive PCR results confirm the suspected clinical diagnosis. Gold standard for the diagnosis of equine sarcoid is the examination by histopathology.
  • Papillomatosis in cattle is also caused by bovine papillomaviruses. Six types have been described to date. This PCR does not detect types 3–6.
