Reticulocytes are juvenile erythrocytes – the concentration is needed to differentiate between regenerative and non regenerative anaemias.
For reliable results the sample should not be older than 48 hours.
In dogs and cats, the hemoglobin concentration of reticulocytes (CHr) is measured additionally.
