Remark | - Hypoalbuminaemia results from losses of albumin (kidney, intestine, haemorrhage), albumin synthesis disorder (liver) and inflammation. Albumin is a negative acute-phase protein.
- Cattle: hypoalbuminaemia, particularly in hepatic diseases, reduced feed intake and inflammation.
- Increased levels are mainly found as relative hyperalbuminaemia in case of dehydration.
- Due to species-specific peculiarities, protein electrophoresis should be preferred in birds and reptiles.
