Cystatin C
LABOKLIN Service ID: 222
- Parameter for early renal diagnosis in dogs and cats. Most of the nucleated cells produce Cystatin C at a constant rate; the production also seems to remain unaffected in cases of inflammations or other pathological conditions. Values can be increased in animals suffering from a manifest hyperthyroidism or after administration of glucocorticoids.
- Cystatin C is filtered in the kidney, probably also tubularly secreted, 99% reabsorbed in the proximal tubule and then degraded.
