  • Measurement of 5\u03b1-dihydroprogesterone (DHP), progesterone and determination of the DHP\/progesterone ratio. <\/li>
  • In cyclic or early pregnant mares the DHP\/progesterone ratio is <1, after the luteo-placental shift around approx. day 100 to 120 of pregnancy the DHP\/progesterone ratio should be > 1. <\/li>
  • Confirming the luteo-placental shift helps to decide on the appropriate period for supplemental progestogenic therapy during early pregnancy in problem mares. <\/li>
