Our method for sex determination is based on the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). This allows us to reliably determine the sex of a snake using only small amounts of DNA. The test detects a specific gene sequence from the W chromosome of females, which is absent in males, who lack a W chromosome.<\/p>

  • Fresh shed skins must be dry and should ideally contain no residues of, for example, substrate. <\/li>
  • To ensure a correct analysis, the sample must not be contaminated with foreign DNA. For this purpose, please wear gloves when taking samples or wash your hands after each sample.<\/li>
  • Please pack the shed skins for each snake individually, preferably in resealable plastic bags.<\/li>
  • It is important to label the samples<\/strong> in such a way that the animals can be clearly identified. <\/li>
