In Germany, human rotavirus infections are among the most common gastrointestinal diarrhoeal diseases and are a notifiable infection. Rotaviruses are non-enveloped and therefore very environmentally stable viruses. Rotaviruses are transmitted both via the faecal-oral route and airborne.
