Insufficient suppression can also be seen in the context of other diseases. If these cannot be excluded or treated, an ACTH stimulation test may be helpful.<\/li><\/ul><br><strong>cat<\/strong><br><ul><li>Both suppression values < 10 ng\/ml: Cushing's Syndrome unlikely.<\/li><li>One suppression value < 10 ng\/ml: Cushing's Syndrome questionable.<\/li><li>Insufficient suppression: Lack of suppression with 0.1mg\/kg dexamethasone may indicate presence of Cushing\u00b4s Syndrome in cats with compatible clinical signs.<\/li><\/ul><br><strong>horse<\/strong><ul><li>PPID: one or both suppression values > 10 ng\/ml<\/li> <li>Cave: In late summer\/autumn, healthy horses, too, possibly suppress insufficiently.<\/li><\/ul><strong>guinea pig<\/strong><br><ul><li>Evaluation: adequate suppression and interpretation as in dogs, reference values not available. <\/li><\/ul><\/p><\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"td-0\"><strong>Remark<\/strong><\/td><td class=\"td-1\"><p class=\"bodytext\"><ul><li> The test with examination of 2 suppression values (3 serum samples) can be found on the online submission forms and in the practice programmes under service ID 1142.<\/li><li> PPID (pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction), formerly called Cushing's disease in <strong> horses<\/strong> is caused by \u201cpituitary adenoma\u201d (hyperplasia of the pars intermedia).
