The profile supports a structured, pathophysiologically based investigation of disorders of calcium and phosphate metabolism.<\/p>

serum 1 ml AND EDTA plasma 1 ml (centrifuged shortly after coagulation (serum) or immediately after collection (plasma), pipetted and at least refrigerated \u2013 preferably frozen)

Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to measure PTH-rP levels, as our partner laboratories are unable to carry out these tests at present due to supply shortages at the test kit manufacturer.<\/p><\/td><\/tr>

Remark<\/strong><\/td>

  • The PTH concentration should be assessed in relation to calcium\/ionised Calcium (+ phosphate if applicable). <\/li>
  • In cases of hypercalcaemia, a PTH concentration that is within or exceeds the reference range should be considered inadequately elevated. Secondary renal hyperparathyroidism should be ruled out. <\/li>
  • Parathormone (rP) supports the identification of paraneoplastic hypercalcaemia (e.g. lymphoma, anal sac carcinoma in dogs). <\/li>
  • Phosphate and vitamin D (25OH) are used to differentiate between secondary renal hyperparathyroidism and vitamin D-induced hypercalcaemia. <\/li>
  • In cats, idiopathic hypercalcaemia is the most common form; it is less common as a secondary consequence of chronic kidney disease (CKD).<\/li><\/ul><\/p><\/td><\/tr><\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
