  • The enzyme is liver-specific and located in the mitochondrion. Thus, elevations are indicative of massive destruction of liver cells and necrobiotic processes, especially in the centrilobular area. If levels of GLDH are increased, but at the same time ALT levels are changed only slightly, it indicates chronic inflammation of the liver.<\/li>
  • Dog:<\/strong> Single values have no diagnostic significance. Slight elevation of GLDH and stronger elevation of transaminases indicate acute disease of the liver. Opposite enzyme activity hints to chronic processes.<\/li>
  • Cattle:<\/strong> Levels depend on stage of lactation.<\/li>
  • Rabbit:<\/strong> GLDH is the most sensitive liver enzyme \u2013 an acute parameter (acute hepatopathy with centrolobular damage; strong increase in activity in anorexia, intoxication).<\/li><\/ul><\/p><\/td><\/tr><\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
