Cataracts are a leading form of blindness in the dog. The symptoms appear already in early life and extend to complete blindness. The only effectice treatment is a surgical intervention. This disease is inherited as an autosomal dominant trait whereas homozygous affected animals show a more severe progress of the disease.
The test is performed out of EDTA whole blood (0.5 ml) or cotton cheek swabs.
The cotton swabs are available upon request and free of charge.
